He set his fedora on the log, eyeing the creature hidden in the bushes. His shotgun in hand, Robert aimed it at the velociraptor. She wouldn't get the better of him, not this time; this was the end for her. He knew it had to be her- Big One -despite the fact that he could only see her eyes and silhouette through the foliage.
Just as Muldoon was about to shoot, there was a rustling in the bushes right beside him. He turned his gaze towards the raptor's head poking out through the leaves. THIS was Big One; he'd been outsmarted by her and the stranger raptor he'd mistaken for her. She let out an odd, purr-like noise, staring intently at him. Their eyes locked together; his pale blue staring dead into her olive green.
"Clever girl..."
She screeched, leaping forward with her deadly claws extended. Before he could react, he was tackled to the ground, his shotgun went flying out of his hand. He screamed as her jaws attacked his face, she kept him pinned to the ground with her sharp talons. He squirmed and kicked violently beneath the dinosaur, her fangs digging into his flesh. The other raptor watched the attack from her hiding place, the corners of her mouth curling into an eerie, reptilian "grin" as a python slithered up the branch ahead of her.
His arms shot up and tried pushing her head away with unexpected luck. Face cut and bleeding, he turned over so he was lying on his stomach and crawled away as fast as he could. She emitted a growl before pinning him down with one foot, jabbing the large claw of her toe deep into his back. He hissed in pain, digging his finger nails into the wet soil of the forest floor. Suddenly, she lifted her foot, giving him the chance to crawl away a few feet before immobilizing him again.
She was TOYING with him; like a cat who'd caught a mouse.
Robert shouted in frustration, struggling to get up. He refused to be treated as a play-thing to the raptor who antagonised every other dinosaur on the island. She let him go again, giving him the time to try reaching for his shotgun.
Just before he could grab it, the other raptor jumped over the log, landing right on top of the weapon. One stomp of her foot and she snapped his shotgun in two. There went his best chance at self-defense.
The two raptors surrounded him, both growling hungrily. He suddenly remembered the pistol he had on him and grabbed it. He managed to shoot the other raptor in the leg before she tried attacking. He shot up and ran past Big One while she was distracted by the other's pain. She turned around, realizing he was trying to escape, and pursued him.
She swiped her claws at him, raking them across his back, causing him to fall down. Ignoring the pain from his new wounds, he rolled over onto his back as her fangs neared his face. His pistol had fallen out of his hand during the fall and thinking quickly, Muldoon grabbed a broken branch. He stabbed it into her right eye until he could feel her blood dripping onto his hand. He let go of the branch once he'd shoved it in her socket as deep as he possibly could.
She screeched in agony, backing away from him as she thrashed and struggled to pull the limb out. The other raptor had forgotten him, too distracted by Big One's distress. This was his chance. He scrambled up, grabbed his pistol, and ran as far as he could, pushing leaves and bushes out of his way. By the time she managed to remove the branch- tearing her own eye out in the process -he was already long gone.
The two raptors sniffed the air and were enraged to find that they'd already lost his scent. They screeched and chattered to each other, as though forming some sort of a plan, before running in seperate directions. They WERE going to get back at him for this.
---
After a few hours of running, he'd reached a riverbank. Exhausted and wounded, Muldoon collapsed at the water's edge, scooping a handful of the cool liquid and splashing it in his face to wash the dried blood off. His back was still bleeding and he knew something- most likely his attackers -would catch his scent eventually.
He thought of returning to the visitor center but realized just how lost he was. Now, he was alone in the jungle, the pistol in his hand being his only weapon. Utterly alone in a jungle of predator and prey. Herbivore and carnivore. Alone in a place where only the strongest survived.
And, he would HAVE to be strong in order to survive.
Been obsessed with JP lately since I rewatched it and came up with the idea to write this. Mainly because I believe, since Muldoon's death is never shown on-screen, there may be a possibility that, if he put up a good struggle, he could've gotten away but, of course, with quite a few scars. And, yes, this is based on the movie (because we all know he lived in the book).
Don't know if I'll ever finish this, I'll probably leave what happens next for you to imagine. Tell me what you think!

This is absolutely perfect! It really feels like an excerpt from Crichton's novel, as well as a scene from the movie. You should write a follow-up!
